Microgreens & Sprouts

What is the difference between microgreens and sprouts?
Both variants are one and the same plant, only the harvest age is different. Sprouts have an age of approx. 3-8 days and microgreens of approx. 8-20 days. Of course, the limit cannot be set to the day, but that’s roughly how it can be said. The type of cultivation plays a major role here: Rungs are cultivated on a pure water basis and do not require any soil or other substrate. Microgreens, on the other hand, are best grown on organic soil, since the small plantlets also need nutrients from the soil after about 8 days. Good growing soil is recommended as it does not contain too much fertilizer. Too much fertilizer is rather unfavorable for a healthy growth in the first few days.
Of course, you can also grow microgreens on other substrates: examples of this are plain soil or coconut fibers. For the perfect result, however, a little liquid fertilizer should be mixed with the irrigation water after 10 days at the latest.
